I've been dining regularly at Lendy's for as long as I can remember. If not more than 30 years, then since they first opened. Unfortunately the quality has been slipping, but until now, we hung in there. I even tolerate the uncomfortably odd chair and table heights without complaint.
On my last visit, which will be my last, I ordered the Lox and bagel. It's why I go there. I figured I didn't need to spend the extra $2.00 for the lettuce in the "lox plate." What came to my table looked like a single orange escargo (snail) sitting all alone on a saucer. It didnt even look edible and it probably weighed about an ounce. No onion, no tomato, just this overly orange rubbery strip of something. I did get enough plain cream cheese for half a bagel.
I sent it back as graciously as I could, feeling so embarrassed that I had to do such a thing, and it was whisked away without a care, except for a remark something like: it is what it is. I can see I won't be missed.
So I guess it's the end of an era at Lendy's. I don't understand the concept of dump the quality and save the price. If it's going to cost an extra buck for a nice slice of lox, then that's life. But to keep charging the same high price for such low quality is just an insult to me.
Anyone know where I can get a nice lox and bagel?

The kitchen staff DO NOT WEAR FOOD GLOVES to prepare sandwiches. You can see the kitchen when you wait for the sandwich and I noticed all ready-to-eat sandwiches were prepared like this. Very unsanitary!!
I ended up refusing the sandwich and requesting my money back.

Great food and huge portions - even the drinks are oversized. Macaroni salad definitely tastes home made. Service very friendly and efficient. We mentioned to the waitress that we were splitting a reuben. When she delivered the sandwich she had two plates, an extra pickle and an enormous side of macaroni salad.
