READERS' REVIEWS OF FISHERMAN'S FRIEND:
Samuel from Pittsburgh, PA, says:
Place looked promising right next to the water. Had 3 seafood dishes amongst us, shrimp, scallops, and haddock. Food was VERY average at best, maybe okay if you are used to boxed or frozen seafood, but not a good example of Maine. Service was fairly good and quick but food wasn't worth coming back for.

Lobster Lover from Boston, MA, says:
My wife and I recently visited the Fisherman's Friend in Stonington and both had lobster. My wife had the grilled lobster and I had the lemon butter lobster. It was great; I was so surprised to see that they had 30 different ways to eat lobster. We also had the calamari with garlic and hot peppers served with the house dip...awesome. Everything was great; we sat on the outside deck that has great views of the harbor and Stonington's commercial fishing pier. Great job, Fisherman's Friend. See you next time.

The owner of this restaurant DID care enough, after emailing to him about the experience below, to respond personally, so hopefully this was one bad experience and not a trend.

Went to this new restaurant hoping for good seafood and had the absolute worst seafood (and meal) ever! The clam chowder, at "market price" was $7 a cup (fine if it was good) and horrible, basically some watery buttery liquid with a giant ball of clam that resembled a whole baby squid, inedible and sent back. The fried scallops were not fresh, but instead were pre-breaded frozen scallops you can find in any supermarket freezer (looked freezer burned too!). We left $40 later feeling ill and shocked at what we just experienced. Poor quality seafood at an establishment that claims to serve "the freshest local seafood" on their website is not only an embarrassment to the restaurant, but to the town and the proud state of Maine! We left Stonington, which is a quaint little place, with a very very bad taste in our mouths.
