Boston Restaurant Blog -- March, 2013

Finally it feels like the endless winter is starting to give way to spring (which is good because it's technically spring now), which means--as mentioned in a previous blog entry--outdoor dining will soon be here once again. And it also means that ice cream stands are getting ready to open for the season, if they haven't so already. The Boston area and the rest of Eastern Massachusetts have too many ice cream places to count, including a number of chain shops, some of which are excellent (J.P. Licks, for example). But in keeping in the spirit with the site, I've created a very random list of places worth going to that are mostly independent spots--and some of which are not very well-known. So without further adieu, the list:

There is also a Kimball Farms in Westford, MA. This is the ONLY place to get ice cream in MASS. Best coffee ice cream around.

For a local soft-serve place with dip, we go to Celebrity Pizza, on Mt. Auburn in Watertown. Otherwise, Brown's in York, ME, or Kimball's, early and often.
