Best French Fries in the Boston Area?

(From Our Questions and Answers Feature)

Which restaurants have the best French fries in or around Boston? I find it tough to beat the French fries at the Halfway Cafe, though I also love the chili cheese fries at Costello's in Jamaica Plain, the handcut fries at Christopher's in Cambridge, and the slender fries at UBurger in Kenmore Square. Where else should I be checking out? [Go here to post a reply.]

On the high end, I'd say Sel de la Terre - They're thin and crispy, and they serve them with rosemary.. soo good.
On the low end, definitely Halfway Cafe. Their fresh-cut fries are excellent. The rest of their food is delicious and inexpensive.

I know these aren't exactly french fries- but the tater tots at the Corner Pub in Chinatown are to die for. I think they're double fried and you can get them covered in cheese, chili and bacon! It's a nice potato variation!

Saus next to the Union Oyster House near Faneuil Hall are WORLD CLASS FRIES that should be the standard for the whole CITY, if not the country. These are double-fried, dutch potatoes, with a choice of about 12 HOMEMADE dipping sauces, and also HOMEMADE Ketchup! They are light and crispy, not greasy, and you can have them Poutine-style too. Also good: a Belgian waffle with fruit and a sausage sandwich.

Count me among the fans of Belgian-style twice-fried frites as done at Sel de la Terre (with fresh rosemary), Brasserie Jo, and Gaslight. The Clover Food Lab trucks also do a beautiful cone of fries, and you can watch them punch the potato by hand through their manual slicer. On the fast food tip, Flat Patties is my favorite.
