Fabulous Italian Food - better than most in North End - Very casual and even better its BYOB! Salads are massive - make sure you split with others. The homemade Gemelli is a must have! Can get busy.

Was just there last night. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, but it only took two trips around the block to get a space. Sweet!
This restaurant is a little unusual. The food is white tablecloth and candles, maitre-d' and fancy soaps in the bathroom. But the place is not at all fancy. Clean, comfortable and cozy, yes. But it can get very noisy and it was certainly busy last night. You order at the counter, and the counterstaff either calls out your name or brings your order to your table.
They offer and amazing array of pasta dishes, as well as a colorful selection of takeout-ready salads and sides.
I had the special - linguini di frutti di mare. Linguini with mussels, shrimp, and scallops, with mushrooms and tomatoes in a buttery sauce. The seafood was tender and sweet - perfectly cooked and very fresh. The portion was large enough to have dinner and finish the rest at lunch today. Not a bad deal at $18.99.
The bread for the table is OK, I guess. It does the job, but a little on the lacking-in-flavor side.
Dessert was tiramisu and coffee. Perfectly wonderful, but for $5.95, the tiramisu should be.
Filho's shares a building with a wine store. You can go over there through the connecting door to buy a bottle, and Filho's will provide a wine opener and glasses. They don't seem to have a liquor license, so this is a nice compromise.
I would highly recommend this place for the food - but not necessarily for the less-than-romantic ambiance, unless you happen to be there at a quiet time. (Is there a quiet time?)
